Where do cruise ships dock in Puerto Rico?

Cruise ships in Puerto Rico dock in San Juan at two places. Ships making a port call use the Old San Juan piers — Piers 1, 3 and 4 — along the walled city’s south waterfront, where Paseo de la Princesa, La Fortaleza and Plaza de Armas are a five-minute walk from the gangway. Ships that begin or end their cruise in San Juan (Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity, Virgin Voyages and others homeport here) usually use the Pan American Pier on Isla Grande, across the channel and about a 10-minute taxi from Old San Juan. A handful of calls each season go to the Port of Ponce on the south coast.
