Charlotte Amalie, the cruise piers and Red Hook face south, in the lee of the island's ridge; the north shore — Magens Bay, Hull Bay — is where the winter north swell lands. Crown Mountain (about 1,550 ft) catches passing trade-wind showers, so the hills are often wetter than the harbour.
St. Thomas today: showers with a high near 84°F, an overnight low around 79°F, ESE winds near 21 mph, a 73% chance of rain, seas running about 3 ft.

Two-thirds national park and steep. The north-shore beaches (Trunk, Cinnamon, Maho) are calm in the usual east trades but take the north swell from about December to March; the south and east side — Salt Pond, Coral Bay — takes the trade-wind chop instead. Bordeaux Mountain (1,277 ft) is the wet spot.
St. John today: showers with a high near 85°F, an overnight low around 80°F, ESE winds near 20 mph, a 78% chance of rain, seas running about 3.1 ft.

About 40 miles south of St. Thomas across open water, flatter and drier, with its own National Weather Service forecast zone — so its alerts and rain can differ from the northern islands on the same day. The east end is arid scrub; the west end around Frederiksted is greener, and the Frederiksted pier sits in the lee.
St. Croix today: drizzle with a high near 87°F, an overnight low around 79°F, E winds near 16 mph, a 82% chance of rain, seas running about 3.5 ft.

The National Weather Service San Juan Coastal Waters Forecast for the zones around the US Virgin Islands, in its own words (issued Thu 4:02 AM AST). Wind is in knots and seas are the average of the highest third of the waves.
A surface high pressure north of the region will maintain moderate to locally fresh easterly trade winds through at least Friday, producing choppy conditions across the Atlantic and Caribbean waters and local passages. Winds will become mainly moderate over the weekend into early next week, maintaining a moderate chop. A disturbance moving through the region today will increase showers and thunderstorms, potentially creating locally hazardous conditions for small craft due to gusty winds, higher seas, lightning, and reduced visibility. Lingering moisture will sustain unsettled conditions into the early weekend.
Coastal waters east of Puerto Rico, around Vieques, and around and just north of Culebra and Saint John.
Coastal Waters from Cabo San Juan to the waters between Anegada Island and Virgin Gorda and North 10 NM.
Caribbean waters of Puerto Rico from 10 NM to 17N, including the coastal waters of Saint Croix.
Typical for October: 86°F. Warmest around September (86°), coolest around February (80°).

No. The USVI stays on Atlantic Standard Time (UTC−4) all year. From March to November that matches U.S. Eastern Daylight Time; from November to March the islands are one hour ahead of New York. Every time on this page is island time.
Often, a little. St. Croix sits about 40 miles south across open water, is flatter and drier, and has its own National Weather Service forecast zone, so a flood advisory or a band of showers can hit St. Thomas and St. John and miss St. Croix, or the other way round. Temperatures are within a degree or two; rain chances are where they differ most, which is why this page gives each island its own forecast.
The National Weather Service office in San Juan, Puerto Rico, issues the forecasts, watches, warnings and marine advisories for the USVI — St. Thomas and St. John share one land zone and St. Croix has another. Tropical storm and hurricane watches come from the National Hurricane Center, and the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) handles local emergency notices.
Rain comes mostly in brief showers year-round, but the wetter months run from about August to November, when tropical waves pass through, and the driest are February to April. A 40% chance of rain in the islands usually means a passing shower of a few minutes, not a lost day.
June 1 to November 30, with the peak from mid-August to mid-October. Hurricanes Irma and Maria both hit the USVI in September 2017. Outside a named storm, the season mostly means more tropical waves, heavier showers and more humid, less windy days.
Warm all year. The USVI sea averages about 80°F in February, the coolest month, and about 86°F in September, the warmest (satellite sea-surface normals, 2021–2024). Most people swim without a wetsuit in every month.
